Zusammenfassung |
Aus der Sicht der Münchner
With a 25 – 6 win, Stuttgart go into the 2nd half of the season top of the 2nd division.
A side from the score, the game did live up to all expectations. MRFC kicked off and Stuttgart as they have done through the season spread the ball wide to attack from deep. But with good defense, MRFC forced the turn over and took the lead with a penalty from Hensel (3 -0).
As with any game like, where the stakes are so high. Neither side was going to take a step back or leave anything to chance. But with this urge to make a statement, confrontations are always going occur and tensions to rise, and this game was always going to be won by the side which stuck to their game plan and adapted to the regulation of the ref. Stuttgart showed this through out the 80minutes. As for MRFC, it went in the complete opposite – starting with the experienced Nr.8 (Moughty) who should have known better was yellowed carded for a late tackle in the 5minute of the game. Stuttgart took full advantage and racking up a point for each minute of the sin bin.
With MRFC restored to their full complement, after Hensel converted his 2nd penalty (6 – 10). Stuttgart kicked off. From the kickoff, the game turned into a stalemate between the two 10meter lines, with neither team making much ground. Then things slipped even further with the every influential Briggs having to leave the field with damaged ribs.
MRFC started to get very frustrated with the decision given against them and instead of just playing the game and concentrating on their individual job, their efforts where more focused towards the ref. Stuttgart took full advantage of this and crossed under the post on the stroke of half time (6 – 17).
From the restart MRFC tried to get back to their game plan, but it just was not to be and Stuttgart crossed the line again 10minutes into the half (6-22). For the entire 2nd half MRFC just did not have the ball, and without it there is nothing that any team can do.
As the time when on, and with Stuttgart looking to get the bonus point, it was attack after attack. But MRFC defense held and kept Stuttgart out, the last of their points coming from a penalty for another so called ‘High-tackle’ (6-25).
In the end the better team won, and MRFC must take this game and learn from it.
With a two week break till the start of the 2nd half of the season, MRFC have some
work to do to get ready for the last home game this year against HRK II |
